Art as camouflage in WWI

In an effort to confuse Uboats in WWI, Allied combatant and merchant ships were painted in a cubist-inspired camouflage known as "dazzle paint" or "razzle dazzle". I don't know how effective it was in its original purpose, but it's quite something to look at now.

Unfortunately, no color photographs of razzle dazzle ships exist, but there are some B&W, as well as some artist renderings here.

Your fun WWI fact for the day. Go take on the world!
